About us
A family builder from New Iberia
Gulf Coast Home Builders is run by Chris Tabor, who has spent more than 30 years designing homes for Louisiana families. He started in modular homes, and today he and his sons also build custom site-built homes on their clients' land.
Many of our floor plans carry the name of the family we first built them for, including the Tabor home pictured at the top of this page. Stop by the office on Highway 90 to see plans and talk it through.

Good questions
Do you build on my land?
Yes. Building on your lot is what we do most. Our turn-key packages include the plans, permits, slab, the finished home and the electric, water and sewer hookups to your lot.
Should I go modular or site-built?
It depends on your lot, your budget and how fast you want to move in. We build both, so we'll lay out the trade-offs honestly and help you pick.
Do you help with plans?
Yes. Start from one of our plans and customize it, or bring your own ideas. Chris designs homes himself, and drawings by a draftsman are included in our packages.
How long does a home take?
It depends on the plan, permitting and the weather. We'll give you a realistic schedule for your home before you sign, and keep you updated as it goes up.
How does financing work?
Most families use a construction loan or a land-and-home loan from their bank or credit union. We'll provide the plans, specs and contract your lender needs to get you approved.
Can you build on a low or flood-prone lot?
Yes. We build raised homes on pilings with decks and parking underneath. Tell us where your lot is, and we'll talk through what it needs.
